I love Lisa’s Portaits because (shameless plug!!): It was an exciting event to do. A highlight of my senior year and she is AMAZING at what she does. The company is very nice and works well with you.

For senior year, I was most nervous about: the ACT test and preparing for college

My top 5 senior events are: first day of school, homecoming, my 18th birthday, spring break and PROM!

My most embarassing moment is: I have many, but I slid out of my chair at tech infront of my whole class, and when I got up I tripped over the chair.

My number one lesson from high school I will take to college is: time management. I work 2 jobs and attend 2 schools, as well as trying to make time for my family and friends.

Senior year is such a big deal because: it is the last year with all of my friends which I will be leaving very soon and I just want to make it last.

Mom and Nana Gittleman have been going crazy all weekend waiting to see baby Peytons 4 month pics. So I thought I'd post a sneak peak for them on the blog before they came in for their screening appointment this week. Another Peyton, another Baby Collection baby, what a coincidence :)

I picked up this luscious pink fabric at the store and I usually wrap up my moms to be in it but this day we decided to let baby play around in. Oh the great pics we got....she didn't quite know what to think. Mom scoped out my zebra blanket and already had a fabulous idea to get a zebra bow or headband for Peytons next session!!! I love it when mom's plan ahead!! I think Mom is a little obsessed with Zebra print so it'll be perfect.

I'm way overdue to blog baby Payton's images so I'm making up for lost time. Payton is part of our Baby Collection and has just had her 9 month session. We are eagerly planning her 1 year session with something ultra-hip and urban in downtown Tulsa. I cannot wait to see what delicious clothing mom picks out for this session! Of course I'll have some thoughts of my own, which will probably involve umbrellas or petti's. I can't get enough of them :o) We'll see!!

SPA Event Update

WOW Spa is a convention unlike any other! We got to work with the spa models today - for all you 2009 Seniors keep your eyes peeled for information on how you can enter to be a model at the 2010 Spa Event in our upcoming magazine. Back to the update! I am so inspired right now I cannot wait to get back and start shooting your sessions! Yay for those of you who are scheduled in January! I wish I had time to work up some of the images we did today and post them, they are rockin! But soon - I promise....... Sooooo lots of learnin', sharin', catchin' up with old friends and makin' new ones goin' on this week. Our lab sponsored a bowling party tonight and it was loads of fun. I'm pretty sure I haven't bowled in about 10 years so my score of 99 was fabulous and the second highest which as you all know by now was not first and NOT good enough!!!!!! The rematch was just miserable so I won't embarrass myself with the details :o) Can you believe we haven't left the hotel.... I know!! But there is no need to - It is 70 acres....I'm telling you....a fortress! Off to bed! Until next time

I'm here in sunny Las Vegas for the Senior Portrait Artist Convention, Yay! It's being held at the Red Rock hotel and Casino and you should see this place! AAAAAmazing - I cannot wait to take some pictures here! Yippee! I feel like a little kid again! And why shouldn't I, this is my first time to Vegas. So tonight I'm hanging out with all my bestest friends that I graduated photography school with. We got pretty close after spending 2 and 1/2 years straight together, all of our classes together, 8 hours a day or so! So we try to get together at least a couple of times per year to catch up and share ideas. To all of you guys who couldn't make it ...We missed you!!!! I love them all and they are all very talented photographers! Off to finish having fun now!

As the Christmas holiday comes to an end I hope you all enjoyed gathering with your family during this holiday season? I know I did. It’s my greatest joy to spend time with loved ones during this most wonderful time of the year. It warms my heart to know that my children are tucked in their beds and my relatives are just around the corner. As my family matures I'm coming to learn that eventually families scatter, and holiday reunions are too few and far between. So each day count your blessings and with each family get together cherish those moments.

I always feel sentimental during the holidays as we all probably do so take this time to schedule that family portrait that you've been wanting. Let us create a truly meaningful piece of art that you will cherish forever. Seeing this image so small just doesn't do it justice. The Carters chose to display this as a 30x40 in their home, not everyone needs that size, we helped them choose the perfect size for the location they wanted it displayed. When I saw it displayed at their holiday party I was truly moved. They replaced a tapestry that was hanging on the wall. Now what would you rather decorate your home with?

Ooh almost missed a blog post - helping my brother plan his wedding in fabulous Playa del Carmen. I'm suppose to photographing their wedding but since I haven't photographed a wedding in over a year and a half I'm trying to talk my fabulous friend Andrea into taking a little trip with us. I'm taking all kinds of trips this year. Vegas on Friday, Playa del Carmen in March, and our big 10 year anniversary trip to Hawaii in July. Yay for me! Better start hittin' the gym with a little more frequency! Well gotta jet! Time to kick my brothers hiney at a game of Wii Tennis! BooYaaaaa!

Man I am a bloggin' fool! I am so dedicated to this blog challenge that I am sittin' here at a Christmas party with all my friends on a borrowed laptop drinking my glass of wine and trying to come up with something to blog about! I'm totally bummed because I just lost a game of Partini and a game of Cranium. I'm a total competitive junkie so losing not one but 2 different games has me doling out a few unsavory threats to my husband and some of the guys on the opposing team.

Since I don't have any pics here to share with you and it's only 5 days until Christmas, almost 4-note the time of this post, this is a good time to share with you our holiday schedule. Every year I take 2 weeks off during Christmas to spend time with my family. I totally need the break!! We will be closed from Dec. 24- Jan. 2. And after that I will be off to the fabulous Las Vegas for the Senior Portrait Artist Convention to learn the hottest trends in Senior portraits. So if you have a session scheduled in January or February, lucky you! I'm always incredibly inspired when I come home from the SPA convention after working with all the greatest senior photographers in the nation. It will also be my first trip to Vegas, I'm very excited about that!

1. Happy Birthday Cassie !!

2. I'm posting the most fabulous Christmas card ever made. "What makes it so fabulous?" you say. Those 2 adorable little mugs belong to my beautiful children Chelsea and Brandon. People always say to me you must love photographing your children, I bet you do it all the time. To which I answer....no and no!!!! I have an abundant amount of patience for everyone elses children except mine! We finally let loose and had lots of fun with this one. My family is practically begging me for pictures and I do Christmas cards for everyone in the world but this is our very first one - ever! I know.... it's pathetic, but my family is going to be sooooo happy this year and so am I! Merry Christmas everyone!

The long goodbye....

I've been putting off my farewell to Cassie for a long time now. I'm not good at goodbye's especially to someone as fantastic as Cassie. If your a client you know her and you love her. She helped you with the daunting task of narrowing down your choice of portraits to take home and kept you from spending the entire evening here! She also did many other things behind the scenes here at the studio, actually now that she is gone I think that she did EVERYTHING! I miss her bunches and I know the one thing I can do that will make her happiest in the world is to finally.....finally get her pictures finished and posted! As you can see from the beautiful flowers and sundress sweet little Hayden is wearing this post is long overdue! So thanks Cassie for your patience and all your hard work, you are irreplaceable! Good luck with your church in Gore. They are getting an amazing pastor and family!

Can I get out of posting something entertaining if I post lots of pictures? And as a bonus I'll even post a guys session! Something I noticed is totally lacking in my new blogging adventure. As is becoming my norm I couldn't narrow these down. Justin chose the Statement session, a great choice for all the locations he wanted to go but resulting in tons of great images!

Guess this weekend i'm posting my girls with the more quiet personalities. Danna was also of a softer spoken nature but I don't mind. Whatever your personality type I like to take the time to get to know who you are and to bring your style into your photos! Danna chose the Style session and we took a trip to Downtown Tulsa and then came back to the studio. She brought some great clothing and we had a hard time making up our minds what she was going to wear! Give me too many good options and there will be a problem . . . . can you have temperatures in the 70's in the afternoon then in the teens later in the day! Seriously, I saw people in shorts! Visions of ice storms are dancing in my head, surely not 2 years in a row around the same time. Although after a weekend of marathon shopping a day at home curled up by fire with some hot chocolate, the hubby and kiddoes is sounding pretty pleasing :o)

Well another late night of blog posting, I've got no good material, no more images at home with me to show, and i'm all tuckered out. Sorry for this lame excuse for a blog post. It will never happen again!

What a relief it is

Speed Racer

This just happened.......I'm driving home after finishing up the statement session with the totally cute Justin Glowacki (hope I didn't butcher your name J) and after picking up some fuel for the tummy I needed to stop by the studio to get a phone #. So I'm zipping along the 169 access road in my own little world and BAM out of the darkness flashing red and blue lights in front of me, he does a u-ee and i'm bussssted. You know usually you have a little warning because you actually see the cop car but he was in some kind of SUV and it was really dark along that road , so the flashing lights jolted me out of my little world and nearly into cardiac arrest. I pulled over and put my foot on the brake but neglected to put my car into park so when i reached over to get my insurance out of the glove compartment the my foot gently lifted from the brake and the car slowly started creeping away. I didn't even realize it until I hear in a booming voice "I wouldn't drive off if I were you, that would get you into a lot of trouble". WOW....now I'm pretty much shaking by the time he comes up to the window and ask me if I think I'm speed racer or something which somehow makes me feel better! I tell him I guess so and after a little grilling he inspects my licence and insurance then tells me Merry Christmas he just saved me from a $270 ticket. Whew, thank you kind officer! Merry Christmas to you too!

To all who missed me today, I spent the second half of my afternoon attending the Fall 2008 Portfolio Review for the Capstone Class of OSU-Okmulgee. Capstone class is pretty much the culmination of semesters of sweat and tears for photographers and graphic designers ending in a review where professionals are invited to critique their work. It's very nerve wracking! I know I was there only 3 short years ago, actually it seems like forever ago. Soooo much has changed. Well now that I'm a grown up photographer I've been invited to review the portfolio's, so I went with two of my fabulous friends Andrea and Cody, who I don't get to see enough of anymore. And we critiqued. Which is actually very hard to do. I have to say there is some seriously amazing talent coming out of that school. If your thinking of a career in photography or graphic design I would highly suggest OSU-Okmulgee. And to the graduating class of 2008 Congratulations,.......Now breathe!!!

So this is Kelsie ~ with an ie!! Kels has been kind enough to have been modeling for me every since I was in photography school at OSU. I think I've known her since she was about 12 or 13 or so. I used to drag her and her friend Sammy to the most awful locations you've ever seen. I'm talking abandoned schools, falling down houses, creepy railroad tracks, you name it. They were real troopers to let me practice away and they even were nice enough to say the pictures were good....well at the time I thought they were too. Anyway now kels, with an ie, is all grown, gorgeous, and a senior and she's still modeling for me. She tested out our new set for us~ the brocade one with the chandelier, its fabulous. We try to add new stuff occasionally to keep things fresh.

Senior Spotlight: Brooke Summers

I go to school at: Claremore High School...then I am OSU bound!!

My first crush was: A guy named Brook, haha! Who would have ever really thought my first real crush be a guy with the same name as me!

My current favorite song: Love Story by Taylor Swift and Coal Miner’s Daughter by Loretta Lynn...ahh! There are to many! That’s a hard question!

The last meal I made was: Elk Chili

My biggest accomplishment in high school so far: My team won the state championship for the Claremore FFA in Agricultural Communications and my part was the graphic designing. Also I made the affiliate finals to show in the NRHA (reining) Futurity on my mare and I am currently representing the South Central Region of the United States and my big show is this weekend!!

My dream job: I want to do something major in the Ag. Communications field. I am not sure what yet, but I have an idea and I would love to work for a local news station like Channel 8 or 6, behind the scenes doing back ground work. It is such a huge field and so many things fit me, I’m not sure exactly what my dream job is. I have an idea though. One unusual talent I have is: Umm... I have no unusual talents. I can pick up things off the floor with my toes? And also pinch with them? Does that count? I can’t really think of anything unusual I can do.

I couldn't speak when I met: I normally am a chatter box until I went to a show in Branson and met the Haygoods. I was speechless and couldn’t even say hello because I was slobbering all over myself. I was so embarrassed afterwards.

My favorite things in my closet are: My Square-Toed Ostrich Skin Boots, I have some of the fanciest belts you will ever see (I kind of collect them), my belt buckles, and my Reining Breyer horses.

2 most important things to have a great friendship are: “Respect” which is a strong word that can go in several directions along with honesty and the other one would be “Laughter”

In 10 years I see myself: Graduated College and hopefully I will still be in school for my Masters degree. I want to be married to the right guy and have my own place by then, only if the time is right.

I love Lisa’s Portaits because (shameless plug!!): Lisa is so much fun and so funny at the same time. Oh man...just hope her camera doesn’t start to act funky or else she may have a melt down right there! (haha on the dock). She is young, her pictures are amazing, and she is so good at her job and with people!

For senior year, I was most nervous about: Trying to keep straight A’s the whole year to earn an academic scholarship.

My top 5 senior events are: Tulsa State Fair showing cattle, Spring Break '09, National and State FFA Convention, Prom, and of course, Graduation.

My most embarrassing moment is: oh my...I have so many! I’d have to say when I was new to the Claremore school, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking in the hall between classes and busted a trashcan knocking it everywhere and, of course, I was flat on the floor also. It was so embarrassing.

My number one lesson from high school I will take to college is: STUDY! STUDY! STUDY!

Senior year is such a big deal because: It is a closing to one phase of my life, but yet opening the door for a new one. I am preparing for my future and living my last year as a kid.

So keeping up with my blog over the holidays has proved to be more than this little blogger can keep up with. Missed another day, and my fellow spa challengers are starting to notice! Yikes, I wonder what my punishment will be........I'll probably be made to walk the runway at the Senior Portrait Artist Convention in some crazy, ridiculous getup. That's just the kinda group they are :o)

How many of you ventured out on Black Friday? Not me, no way.....no how...my husband did though he's a closet rock star and was on the hunt for a brand new Gibson Les Paul. So needless to say I will be listening to the incescent thunder of 80's rock music for the rest of the weekend. Right now its Ozzy Osbourn's Bark at the Moon, which was my daughter Chelseas favorite song until she got old enough to know better (poor baby)! My 7 year old son doesn't stand a chance.

Maaaaaan.....I knew the weekend would be the death of me. Only 8 posts before I missed one! I guess I'll just be proud that I made it this far and not give up, its kinda been fun.

I do have a good excuse though. My son Brandon just celebrated his 7th Birthday. Now when I was little we were just happy to have a Pillsbury cake, some ice cream and all the cousins over to play. Hanging some streamers from the ceiling made it extra special :o) But not these days it's gotta be BIG and you gotta invite ALL your friends. I have to admit I do love it though. I'm into Grand gestures! So for Brandons birthday we rented out a private game of Laser tag at LaserQuest. I have to say it might be my favorite Bday party to date. My husband and I actually used to go there with friends MANY years ago when we were dating so it was fun to be back there for our sons birthday. We're already planning our next trip back with a group of our friends! I have a very competitive nature so I couldn't really take any joy in beating a bunch of 7 year olds.... I need to get back there so I can kick my husbands butt!!!!!

Wow have we been busy. I have a love/hate relationship with the fall. I'm not one of those people who thrive on being crazy busy. But I love meeting all the fascinating personalities who come through my door and I get to photograph. And in the fall I get to meet a lot of them. Right now I can't get enough of Dancing with the Stars. This might be the best semi-finals ever. There is a quality I love in all 4 of them. Warren always brings down the house, he never fails to make you smile. I love Cody he is just stinkin' adorable, and so enthusiastic. Brooke is just the best.For an amateur her technique is fabulous,well except this week. It's no fair for a girl to have legs that amazing! But I have to say I'm rooting for Lance. I just love his personality and how Lacey brings it out in all their dances!

I know you guys have been waiting FOREVER but spa Model 2009 winners have finally been announced on the spa Models website. There was a record number of entries this year~ over 300!

Congratulations to our Melissa Oaks from Edison High School who was chosen as a finalist in the competition.

The 15 winners will all be at spa Event 2009 in Las Vegas at the Red Rock Resort. They will model for the top photographers around the nation. They will also be featured in the 5th annual Lights.Camera.Fashion. Show. Each model will receive a portfolio of images from the shoots to keep.

Girls Night Out

Great ~ the first day of my challenge and I almost forgot to post. I was up till 4:30am this morning playing a mean game of spoons and I do mean "MEAN" There was clawing, scratching, shoving, and plenty of trash talk. Of course I was the winner!!! Our church had their annual girls night out event at the camp grounds and it was loads of fun.
In addition I took a personality test and found out I was an "I" personality. Which basically says that "I"'s are impressive people. We are sensitive and emotional. We don't like to do research unless it makes us look good. We are people pleasers and entertainers. So true! Now we both know a little more about me!

It’s all up to me. I have to be the one to remember. It’s a bittersweet ending though. My friends and I will be going our separate ways. Welcome Grayson Blake Kelley of Oologah! Jessie and Blake are kind of special to me. I love being a young photographer, keeping up on the latest trends in the world and in photography but it also means that I haven't been in business 20+ years and built those lifetime bonds with clients but I'm getting there and this couple is a great example. I photographed Blakes senior portraits. Then I had the pleasure of photographing their fabulous wedding and now here they are with their beautiful little boy! I love Lisa’s Portaits because (shameless plug!!): I was terrified of the whole process until I got there. The moment I walked in I knew that they were going to turn out great. The whole experience was fun and painless, everything turned out awesome in the end too.

For senior year, I was most nervous about: auditioning to dance programs nationwide and still managing to keep up with my schoolwork.

My top 5 senior events are: Senior night for Pom (football and basketball), homecoming, pep rallies, prom and Graduation!!

My most embarrassing moment is: when my whole family was over for Easter and my brother and I were jumping on the trampoline. I was wearing a long skirt and of course my brother just had to step on it while I was about to jump. The effect being me going in the air with my skirt around my ankles. So now every Easter I am reminded of the “underwear incident”!

My number one lesson from high school I will take to college is: making school my top priority. Even while having a job and being on a competitive dance squad my classes have taught me that procrastination is my worst enemy. Don’t do it, I’ve learned the hard way.

Senior year is such a big deal because: it is your last year to be a “kid” of sorts. After that you move on to college away from your family and friends to become your own person. The whole experience sounds intimidating but exciting, I can’t wait!

A special thanks to the Gore family for traveling all the way from Beggs in order for me to photograph them. Also thanks to my friend Chris Humphrey who photographed their wedding, for referring them to me. I so enjoyed getting to know this family. Chris Gore is the Pastor of First Baptist in Beggs. I love it when families bring their own props. It always makes a session more personalized and Leslie brought the best ones. Antique books, rocking horses, wooden animals and stuffed ones too. She's lucky I didn't "accidentally " bring them back to the studio with me! So take a look at this kiddoe. I'm so blessed I get to photograph the most precious children.

. . . . that moms birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and she would love to have some more pictures of her beautiful little Michael. Is is PC to call a boy beautiful......well this one is~with his blond hair and blue eyes and personality to boot. I just love looking at his pictures. We hadn't planned on photographing him in his rain boots but it was pouring cats and dogs when he came in (when isn't it these days) and I couldn't resist! Oh and just ask this boy anything about space and he can tell you. He even knew that Venus was hottest planet in the solar system. He's destined to be the first 4 year old on the moon!

So if your one of those people who automatically thinks of the park or a studio when you think of a portrait session check these photos out. It suited them both so perfectly.......when we finally got there. After RS'ing because of rain, rain, more rain, 35mph winds, t-ball games, and once we even actually got all the way downtown only to find my favorite spots blocked off for Mayfesters!! Aaaaaargh! But as you can see it was sooooo worth the wait. Thanks for all your patience guys. Mandy I know you can't wait to show off your album so I hope these photos will tide you over!

It's taken me forever but I just had to post this last little model because (sorry moms) he was my absolute favorite. Thanks Mandy for being so patient with me while I found the perfect tattoo. The girls are going to be beatin' down Mandy's door when he gets older. If you can believe it he has an older brother (5) who is equally as adorable. I'll be posting his pictures soon.

Hey all you 2009 seniors!!!!
You can enter to be a senior portrait artist™ model. Any 2009 high school senior photographed at Lisa’s Portraits can choose to have his/her senior portraits entered into the model competition. Each entering senior will receive a set of 10 comp cards, be put on the the national spamodels.com website, and be eligible to be a national spa Model chosen by a spa fashion stylist. The 15 national winners will receive a modeling portfolio and a trip to model at the 2009 spa Event in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 4-7, 2009.

Josh and Song are getting married!!

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph Josh and Songs engagement pictures. Since I quit photographing weddings I don't get to do this as often as I used to so I was completely stoked about it! They were such a fun and easygoing couple I really wish I was going to be photographing their wedding..... but its all the way in Green Bay.....sigh!!! I also took Songs Bridal portraits which was even more fun despite the muggy Oklahoma spring weather. Song kept saying how she wanted to jump into the fountain and take some pictures in that......I'm not so sure she was joking! Sorry Josh, won't be posting those till after you see your gorgeous bride walking down the isle. But here are a few of my favorites from the engagement session........

Earth Angel

I love these images we got of Chloe in our new Earth Angel wings. She was the perfect little model. We were having so much fun she didn't want to stop so she put on her dress and we got out the umbrellas and got some playful shots. I think these were moms favorite. She had so much personality I was sad when the session was over!!

How can you resist these faces! Little "C" wasn't sure about modeling for us at first but we worked our magic on him and got these adorable photos. His sister "AJ" on the other hand was a natural in front of the camera. What a blessing they were to have in our studio. So I didn't quite make my 1 a week goal for updating, but I'm getting there. Our model search was a huge sucess and we had such a great time meeting all the sweet kiddos that came into the studio. I'll be posting some of my favorite shoots over the next few weeks.
